The East Gippsland Shire Council Youth Ambassadors program is currently accepting applications from individuals aged 12-25 residing in East Gippsland. This program offers an excellent opportunity for young people to have their voices heard and develop valuable leadership skills.
By joining the group, youth ambassadors will have the chance to lead and organise events and activities for fellow young people, contributing to the community and gaining practical experience.
The Youth Ambassador Program, led by young people, helps Council better understand the needs of East Gippsland’s young population. It is a fantastic way to volunteer and influence the community’s development.
With the support of Council’s Youth Engagement Officer, youth ambassadors have the freedom to choose their focus areas and gain new skills in a supportive environment.
Mayor Cr Tom Crook highlighted that being a youth ambassador provides young individuals with a valuable opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions about youth-related issues, connect with Council, and actively shape the future of their community.
“The Youth Ambassador Program has been highly successful over the years, leading to the development of numerous noteworthy initiatives and enhancing the confidence and skills of the young participants,” Cr Crook said.
“Youth ambassadors continue to play a pivotal role in instigating positive changes for young people in our region, helping to ensure their active involvement in their communities and recognising the value young people bring to their communities.”
Support is available to help youth ambassdors from across the shire attend meetings either in person or online.
“While these positions are voluntary, youth ambassadors have a solid foundation to build upon. I encourage young people to apply and utilise their interests to assist the Youth Ambassador Program to achieve its goals in the upcoming year,” Cr Crook said.
