Applications now open for Young Farmers Scholarships

Young farmers across Victoria can now apply for the 2019
Upskill and Invest – Young Farmers Scholarships.

To ensure young people continue to develop the skills they
need to build sustainable and successful careers in agriculture, the Victorian
Government is investing $500,000 in the scholarship program over the next four
years.

Up to $10,000 is available per scholarship. Recipients are
eligible for up to $5,000 to upskill through training and study in areas such
as farming, business management and product development.

Once young farmers complete the upskill component of their
scholarship, they can receive up to $5,000 to invest in putting their new
skills into practice.

The Upskill and Invest – Young Farmers Scholarship program
has successfully supported 50 young farmers to develop their skills across a
range of agriculture sectors since 2015. In 2019, 12 to 14 scholarships will be
awarded.

Applications for this year’s round of scholarships are open
to farmers aged 35 or under who have been working in farm businesses for at
least three days a week for the past three months, with two years total
experience on-farm.

Applications close 5pm Friday 9 August 2019.
