Architect appointed for upgrades at Greenwood College

  • Parry and Rosenthal Architects to design $13.9 million Greenwood College upgrade
  • Modern facilities to include new sports hall, dance and drama area and STEM laboratory
  • Parry and Rosenthal Architects have been selected to design $13.9 million worth of upgrades for Greenwood College in Kingsley.

The project, which is a McGowan Government election commitment, includes a brand new sports hall for students to play basketball, netball, badminton and volleyball, and incorporate a bus shed and car park.

The new facility will make way for important refurbishments across the secondary school.

The existing sports hall will be refurbished for dance and drama classes, complete with a stage and retractable seating, while the current dance space will be transformed into a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) laboratory and staff common room.

The administration block and staff study will also be refurbished, enabling staff and students alike to benefit from the modern new facilities.

These latest upgrades follow the completion of new science classrooms and a refurbished cafeteria at the school earlier this year.

Construction of the latest upgrades is expected to be completed mid-2024.

As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

“Contemporary facilities are an important part of providing a quality education and learning opportunities for students.

“Staff and students are no doubt looking forward to seeing these latest updates to Greenwood College delivered, so it’s exciting that they are starting to take shape.”

As stated by Kingsley MLA Jessica Stojkovski:

“I am proud to have worked with the Greenwood College community to secure funding for this important project.

“This is an exciting time for Greenwood College, with the design phase of the latest instalment of the upgrades to the school well and truly underway.

“The benefits from this project will be felt across the entire school and its community, and I can’t wait to see Parry and Rosenthal Architects’ vision for the new facilities.”
