Carabiner Architects has been selected to design early childhood education facilities at Yale Primary School in Thornlie which will provide young students at the school with a modern learning environment.
The new $2 million centre for Kindergarten and Pre-primary will include three purpose built classrooms, with kitchens, store rooms and student and staff toilets.
With the project now in the documentation stage, construction is expected to start in late February 2021 with completion expected in late September 2021.
This investment is part of the McGowan Government’s WA Recovery Plan to modernise Western Australian public schools and create jobs.
More than $492 million of new funding has been committed to construction projects at Western Australian public schools over the next four years.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“We want Western Australian children to have the best possible start to their education.
“As part of our WA Recovery Plan, the McGowan Government has committed to upgrading 24 public primary schools at a cost of $6.9 million in 2020-21, totalling $65.8 million over four years.”
As stated by Thornlie MLA Chris Tallentire:
“A new early childhood education centre at Yale Primary School will provide an inspiring and welcoming environment for the school’s youngest students.
“It is terrific to see the McGowan Government prioritising education in the Thornlie area and providing the community with state-of-the-art learning facilities.”
