Perth Detectives have charged a man as a result of their investigation into an incident in Highgate on 12 June 2021, where a man received significant burns.
It is alleged around 5pm, the man attended a church on Beaufort Street where he set fire to the victim, a 68-year-old man.
A number of people assisted the victim, with water poured over him to extinguish the flames. He was conveyed by ambulance to Fiona Stanley Hospital for treatment of burns to his face, upper body and hands.
Yesterday afternoon (23 June 2021), Perth Detectives arrested a 45-year-old man from West Perth and he was charged with the offence of ‘With Intent to Do Grievous Bodily Harm Does Grievous Bodily Harm to Another’.
He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, 24 June 2021.
