Arrest – Stolen Motor Vehicle – Greater Darwin Region

Northern Territory Police have made several arrests following a series of incidents involving a stolen Toyota Hilux and subsequent pursuits across multiple suburbs in Darwin.

In the early hours of Sunday, 10 November, a red Toyota Hilux was stolen from an industrial premises in Yarrawonga. Several other vehicles were also interfered with during the incident.

A short time later, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that offenders in the stolen red Toyota Hilux had attempted to steal another vehicle in Woodroffe.

The vehicle was later located by police on Jenkins Road, heading towards the Stuart Highway. A pursuit was initiated but was terminated due to public safety concerns.

At around 4:00am, the stolen vehicle was spotted again in Farrar. A second pursuit was initiated, with additional resources deployed from Darwin. However, the pursuit was again terminated as the vehicle drove through the roadworks on Berrimah Road before being abandoned on Tiger Brennan Drive after sustaining flat tyres.

A coordinated response was launched, with a cordon established and Strikeforce Trident and the Dog Operations Unit assisting in the operation.

Five youths, aged between 12 and 14, and one adult aged 18 were arrested in connection with the incidents. They were conveyed to Palmerston Watch House and remain in custody whilst investigations continue.
