The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested two males in relation to an ambulance that was stolen in Ampilatwatja in the early hours of this morning.
Around 12:15am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that the keys to an ambulance had been stolen from a clinic in the community. It was confirmed a short time later that the ambulance had also been stolen.
The ambulance was reported to be travelling south into Alice Springs and the Police Drone, alongside members from the Dog Operations Unit, Strike Force Viper and general duties, were deployed. A pursuit was initiated and tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed on the ambulance along the Stuart Highway.
It was subsequently found located abandoned in bushland north of Alice Springs with two males aged 16 and 19 arrested without incident.
They remain in police custody with charges expected to follow.
