Arson investigation at Balmoral

Detectives have released CCTV of two men as part of an investigation into an arson at a Balmoral business last week. One of the men has been arrested however inquiries are continuing to identify the second man.

Around 3am on June 20, a hair salon was broken into by two men who allegedly smashed a window to gain access and lit a fire with an accelerant.

The fire was quickly extinguished by emergency services and isolated to the one business which sustained minor damage.

A white Honda CRV Queensland registration 919WBM left the scene shortly after. The Honda was stolen from a Mooloolaba address on June 17 and located by police at a Bracken Ridge address on June 23.

Detectives executed a search warrant at the Denning Road address and arrested a 39-year-old Bracken Ridge man. He has subsequently been charged with two counts of arson and one count of unlawful dealing with explosives. He will reappear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 21.

Police appeal to anyone with relevant information to come forward.
