Artists invited to design public art for upgraded Gippsland Line stations

Vic Department of Transport

Gippsland artists are being invited to express interest in developing artworks to be integrated into the designs of Bunyip and Longwarry train stations as part of the Gippsland Line Upgrade.

Designs that are original, vibrant, contemporary and reflect the character of the local area are being sought as part of the Regional Rail Revival Creative Strategy.

Key creative themes have been identified by the local community through a recent online survey.

The creative opportunity is suitable for 2D visual artists including painters, printmakers, photographers and graphic designers at an early to mid-career level.

All Gippsland-based artists are eligible to express interest in developing artworks for Bunyip and Longwarry stations.

Further opportunities to integrate creative artwork into the designs for upgrades to Morwell and Traralgon stations are being explored in collaboration with the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Council.

The Regional Rail Revival Creative Strategy is an opportunity to celebrate the vibrancy and diversity of Victoria’s regional creative industries.

The strategy supports working with regional artists and cultural organisations, engaging local communities and celebrating the creative culture of Victoria’s First Nations Peoples.

View the artist briefs and make a submission online at regionalrailrevivial.vic.gov.au/Gippsland from Monday 29 November until 11.59pm on Sunday 19 December.
