Artists, performers, creatives and venue owners are now able to register for the 2022 North Australian Festival of Arts (NAFA) Fringe Festival.
The festival will be back for the third time in mid-2022, with artists being asked to sign up now to make it into the program.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said Fringe was coming under the NAFA umbrella in 2022 alongside the festival’s curated program.
“NAFA has grown from strength to strength since it was debuted in 2019, which is why we’re making Fringe part of the annual festival,” Cr Greaney said.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how artists can push the envelope and bring more exciting acts, workshops and exhibitions to Townsville in 2022.
“We’re also keen to hear from venue owners who want to get involved, as Fringe acts need a place to call home. If you own a bar, a café, a hall or any other venue, this is the time to sign up and get involved.”
Artists and venue owners will also be able to get more information about the festival at the NAFA Information Night tomorrow.
“If you’re unsure about the process or what being part of Fringe entails, come along to the information night tomorrow,” Cr Greaney said.
“Our Fringe team will be able to give all performers, artists and venue owners information that will help you with the registration and helping to deliver an outstanding NAFA next year.”
The NAFA Information night will be held at 6pm at Mayoral Reception Room, 103 Walker Street tomorrow (8 December 2021).
Registrations for NAFA are open until late February 2022.
