Ashurst announces new Board appointment

Global law firm Ashurst today announces that María José Menéndez has been elected to the Board.

María José Menendez is Head of Corporate Transactions for CEMEA and leads the firm’s corporate team in Spain. She was also previously Office Managing Partner in Madrid. María José specialises in M&A, joint ventures and commercial contracts and has wide-ranging experience in the financial services sector as well as in commercial arbitration. María José is one of the best-known lawyers in the insurance industry in Spain, having advised on most of the main transactions in the past 20 years.

The appointment follows Karen Davies being appointed Global Chair.

The Board will comprise Global Chair Karen Davies (London), Global Managing Partner Paul Jenkins (London/Sydney), partners Phil Breden (Sydney), David Jones (London), Tobias Krug (Frankfurt), Kylie Lane (Melbourne), María José Menéndez (Madrid), Chief Financial Officer Mark Herbert (London) and Independent Board Members Wu Gang and Robin Lawther.
