Ashurst grows Middle East Disputes & Investigations team with partner hire in Dubai

Global law firm Ashurst is adding to its Disputes & Investigations offering in the UAE with the appointment of partner Shane Jury, who joins in Dubai, in the latest addition to Ashurst’s Middle East team. Shane is joined by senior associate Emma Tormey.

Shane’s practice focuses on complex commercial disputes and investigations with significant expertise in the financial services sector. He also has particular expertise in civil fraud, shareholders’ disputes and restructuring/insolvency related claims across arbitration and litigation in the DIFC and ADGM Courts. Emma works on general commercial litigation and arbitration across a range of industries.

“We are very pleased to welcome Shane and Emma to Ashurst”, said Tom Connor, Head of Ashurst’s Disputes, Investigations and Advisory Division. “The Middle East is a key region for our Disputes team. We recently promoted Tammam Kaissi to partner in Riyadh and the recruitment of Shane and Emma is another important step in strengthening and diversifying our offering.”

Middle East Managing Partner David Charlier added: “We are delighted to be welcoming both Shane and Emma. This follows the arrival of corporate partner Vasi Papadopoulos in the UAE earlier this year, and reflects our continuing ambition to build out our Middle East platform.”

Shane said: “I am excited to be joining Ashurst. The firm has a leading position in the Middle East market, which has been further strengthened through a number of recent appointments in the region, and is committed to building out its global Disputes & Investigations capability. I am looking forward to being a part of such a high quality team and leveraging Ashurst’s global network for the benefit of our clients.”

Shane and Emma join from Addleshaw Goddard where Shane was Head of Commercial Disputes, Middle East.
