Australia welcomes new animation studio

American entertainment studio Bento Box Entertainment has partnered with Australia’s Princess Pictures to form a new animation studio.

Based in Melbourne, Princess Bento Studios will produce content for platforms in the US, Australia, Australian co-production treaty countries and across the globe.

The new studio is the result of an agreement signed by the two companies in 2020 to develop animated content by Australia-based creators.

‘While closely working with everyone at Princess Pictures over the past year, my team and I immediately saw a natural fit between our two companies,’ says Scott Greenberg, Co-Founder and CEO of Bento Box.

‘With growing demand for animated content, a shared passion for the type of programming we want to make and a shorthand that perfectly complements our individual strengths, it was clear to us joining forces to set up shop in talent-rich Australia with Princess Bento will take our partnership to the next level and bring strategic benefits to both companies and, most importantly, creators and buyers around the world.’

The joint venture was supported through Film Victoria’s recently announced Victorian Screen Incentive.

Bento Box Entertainment is an award-winning animation production company with studios in Los Angeles and Atlanta. It is owned by FOX Entertainment.

Princess Pictures is one of Australia’s most prolific TV and film production companies, producing comedy projects, podcasts and multiplatform series.
