Australian Antarctic Division site closures

The Australian Antarctic Division has closed its offices to the general public as part of its response to coronavirus (COVID-19) within the workplace.

The Division’s Kingston head office, Macquarie Wharf and Kettering facilities are closed until further notice. Staff will still be on site but additional social distancing measures apply.

Any staff who undertake personal domestic travel out of Tasmania will need to work from home for at least 14 days after their return.

Recruitment processes for next season’s Antarctic expeditioners are being changed and applicants will be contacted.

These measures will ensure the Division can continue to undertake its critical function to support life on our Antarctic and sub-Antarctic stations while maintaining the safety of all of our staff.

The continental stations are now closed for the winter, while Macquarie Island station is currently being resupplied and personnel changed over for the winter.
