The Australian Government has established the first-ever Australian Jet Zero Council, with the membership now selected and terms of reference released.
Aviation is critical to our nation’s way of life, particularly in our regions. It connects families, friends and communities with each other, links businesses to markets, and underpins industries that are vital to our economy.
Through the council, we will work with the aviation industry to identify opportunities to decarbonise the sector, and opportunities for industry and government to collaborate in achieving emissions reduction targets, including through sustainable aviation fuels and emerging technology.
I’m proud to be chairing the council, which will bring together a cross-section of stakeholders from across the aviation industry and its fuel supply chain.
We know that industry leadership will be a fundamental driver of the aviation sector’s transition to net zero.
That’s why members will come from a range of aviation-related organisations spanning airlines, airports, fuels, manufacturing, research, finance, regional aviation and defence.
This includes representatives from Australia’s major airlines, fuel refiners, manufacturers, regional aviation, airports, Defence, as well as government science and fundraising agencies.
The council will also advise the Government on how it can deliver the right policy settings to back the sector’s decarbonisation.
