Authors share sweet and serious side of writing at Orange City Library

Two inspiring Australian authors will come together this week when Orange City Library hosts a conversation with Karly Lane and Kim Kelly on Wednesday 3 November.

A best-selling Australian author, Karly Lane will join well-known Central West author Kim Kelly for a conversation about the sweet and serious business of writing heart-warming tales during hard times.

BEST-SELLING AUTHOR: Karly Lane.

Karly’s latest novel, Take Me Home, is a story about discovering where you truly belong and learning to back yourself, while Kim’s latest, The Truth & Addy Loest, is, by coincidence, about these things too.

While Karly takes us to the highlands of Scotland this time, Kim takes us to the tumbledown backstreets of inner-Sydney, and yet both their heroines end up in the same place.

Orange Mayor Reg Kidd said the event would inspire booklovers and budding authors alike.

“We are lucky to have such a wealth of writing talent in this country, and indeed here in the Central West,” Cr Kidd said.

Karly Lane lives on the mid-north coast of NSW – a place her family has called home for five generations. She is a prolific writer, with 17 novels published so far. Take Me Home is inspired by her travels through Scotland and woven through with all the enchantment of her Scottish ancestry.

Kim Kelly is a city girl who moved west for love. She is the author of 11 novels, and a book editor, too. The Truth & Addy Loest is inspired by her colourful, messy university days, where she was very much a fish out of water, and by the German family history that whispers through so many of her tales.

CENTRAL-WEST AUTHOR: Kim Kelly.

Services Policy Committee Chair Cr Scott Munro said would bring insights to local readers and writers.

“With 28 novels between them, it is such a privilege these two talented authors are keen to share their insights and experiences with us,” he said.

Join these wonderful authors at a free event at Orange City Library on Wednesday 3 November at 5.30pm.
