The Tasmanian majority Liberal Government is committed to continuing to boost visitation in regional areas to ensure even more Tasmanians benefit from our strong economy.

This year began with Mona Foma, followed by the iconic Festivale, which are set to again put northern Tasmania in the global spotlight.

In an effort to attract interstate and international visitors travelling to Tasmania’s northern region we are investing $610,000 into Festivale over three years to support the event.

This is on top of the $5.25 million for Mona Foma over three years, $5.6 million for the Supercars at Symmons Plains over 5 years, $1.25 million for Junction Arts Festival over 5 years and $671,000 towards the Australian Music Theatre Festival over 5 years.

These events were key drivers in attracting more than 705,000 interstate and international visitors travelling to Tasmania’s northern region in the year to June 2019.

This year the Festivale event is on track to match last year’s attendance of 28,000 patrons, demonstrating its status as an iconic event drawing people together to celebrate what Tasmania has to offer the world.

The Gutwein majority Liberal Government’s support for Festivale is aimed at supporting the event’s tourism strategy activation – to increase the level of interstate visitation to Tasmania, increase the media and marketing for the event nationally and expand their media reach.
