Ballarat will host the premier tournament for cricketers with a disability thanks to the Allan Labor Government.
Minister Dimopoulos announced that the National Cricket Inclusion Championships will take place in January 2027.
The Championships are being backed by Labor’s Significant Sporting Events Program.
Now featuring six divisions, athletes from across the country will compete over six days.
A division for Cricketers with a Physical Disability will run for the first time.
It will also see the return of cricketers with an Intellectual Disability, as well as Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Blind and Low Vision across men’s and women’s teams.
The National Cricket Inclusion Championships provides pathways for cricketers with disabilities.
Standout performers also have the opportunity to represent Australia internationally.
The Significant Sporting Events Program helps organisations attract and deliver national and international sporting events across the state.
It has secured more than 1150 events for Victoria, with more than half taking place in regional communities, delivering economic benefits to local businesses, accommodation providers and hospitality venues.
