Bayside Council has been recognised as a finalist in the prestigious Local Government Professionals Australia Awards for Excellence 2026.
Bayside has been shortlisted in two major categories for councils with a population of over 100,000, reflecting both our environmental leadership and our commitment to delivering outstanding customer experience.
In the Environmental Leadership category, Council has been named a finalist for our inaugural Project Planet initiative which demonstrates our commitment to sustainability, climate action, and creating a resilient future for our community.
In the Customer Experience category, Council has been named a finalist for Be Better for Bayside; a transformative program focused on improving how we interact with our community, streamline services, and deliver a more responsive, people-centred experience.
The winners will be announced on Thursday 4 June.

“It is recognition of the leadership provided by Councillors, and a testament to the dedication and professionalism of our staff. It reflects a culture that embraces continuous improvement, collaboration, and a strong focus on delivering for our community,” Mayor Edward McDougall said.
