Belchers corner building demolition

The following comments are to be attributed to Director Development, Design and Planning Gareth Smith:

Have the traders surrounding the building been offered compensation?

We have been providing regular updates to traders near the Belchers corner building, and we will be offering a number of support measures to the businesses adjoining the site to minimise any impact on their trade.

Measures may include waiving Footpath Trading permit fees, and providing extra signage to let the public know that these businesses are still open. The City also offers small business mentoring sessions through Small Business Victoria.

Will Shorts Place be taken over by construction workers meaning businesses on Moorabool Street can’t use their loading dock? Has this been discussed with traders and what alternative have they been given to load their stock?

Temporary permits are in place for trade vehicles to park on Shorts Place during the demolition works. Site managers will be liaising directly with Moorabool Street business owners to ensure their loading requirements are not impacted.
