Bendigo hosting roadshow to empower recreational anglers

OzFish Unlimited

Anglers and community members in Bendigo and central Victoria are invited to the latest OzFish Unlimited Fish Talk night, on Thursday 9 May at the Quality Lakeside Hotel, with complimentary dinner and lucky door prizes up for grabs.

The fishing conservation charity is delivering the free event alongside the Victorian Fisheries Authority. This event, which aims to raise awareness about restoration and sustainability of our waterways, will be the second held as part of the Native Fish Habitat Roadshow, set to travel through northern Victoria.

The speakers, including angling legend Colby Lesko, will discuss the challenges facing our rivers, recent success stories, and opportunities for individuals to contribute to restoration initiatives.

Braeden Lampard, OzFish Murray-Darling Basin Program Manager, acknowledges that anglers see first-hand the issues facing our native fish and their involvement is invaluable to restoration efforts.

“These community events are often the starting point to kickstart fish habitat restoration,” said Braeden.

“There are complexities to restoration and bringing a waterway back to good health, but when people know more about the challenges, solutions are within reach.

“On the night, we’ll update local anglers on how they can get involved, which is greatly needed following the devastation caused by the flooding in recent years,” said Braeden.

This free event is open to the public, with catering provided. Early registration is essential as spots are expected to fill up fast. Register your attendance at https://ozfish.org.au/event/bendigo-fish-talks-vic-may-2024/
