Body located after house fire on NSW Central Coast

A body has been located following a fatal house fire on the NSW Central Coast overnight.

About 11.40pm (Tuesday 19 October 2021), emergency services were called to a granny flat behind a home on Terry Avenue, Woy Woy, following reports of a fire.

NSW Fire and Rescue officers extinguished the blaze a short time later; a body and a deceased dog were located inside the premises.

Officers from Brisbane Water Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene, which has been forensically examined.

The body has not yet been formally identified. A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

The circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire are under investigation.
