BOLD seniors celebrate life through dance

A dance festival featuring older artists to celebrate the longevity and health benefits of dance and creativity was launched at the National Library of Australia today.

The ACT Government invested $25,905 to the BOLD II Festival through the 2018 Art Activities funding round, off the back of the successful inaugural festival in 2017 which featured 130 participants, 90 delegates, 55 talks, 9 workshops, 7 films and 5 performances.

“The ACT Government is proud to support older people in the ACT to live positive, healthy and meaningful lives,” Minister for the Arts and Cultural Events, Gordon Ramsay said.

“BOLD II will focus on connecting different generations and cultures of artists in the dance world through movement, science, multiculturalism, history and art, with an emphasis on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance heritage.

“The festival offers a unique program of workshops, conferences and performances from a range of local, national and international groups from Singapore, India, Indonesia, and America – it really is an event not to be missed.”

BOLD II is on from 13 – 17 March with activations at the National Library of Australia and National Film and Sound Archive and local arts organisations such as Gorman House, McKellar Ridge Winery, and Parliament House.
