Boral Resources charged

Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has laid charges against Boral Resources (Vic) Pty Ltd under the Environment Protection Act 1970.

The charges follow a comprehensive investigation into the release a thick oily substance observed in Paisley Drain, Williamstown in November 2019. EPA Officers attended the scene and observed the substance was spreading into the rest of the Paisley Challis Wetlands and Jawbone Marine Sanctuary.

After further investigations, EPA will allege the discharge came from Boral’s premises at 91 Champion Road, Williamstown. The charges relate to pollution of waters, causing an environmental hazard and discarding an industrial waste at a site not licensed to accept industrial waste.
