Bottle shop bandit in Herne Hill

Detectives from Geelong Crime Investigation Unit are hoping to identify a man following an armed robbery in Herne Hill on Sunday.

Investigators have been told the man attended the Minerva Road bottle shop just before 5pm on 19 April.

The unknown man asked an employee if he could have a cask of wine as he had no cash.

When the employee refused the man threatened him before taking a bottle of wine and leaving.

The same man returned to the store about an hour later.

On this occasion he threatened the 30-year-old employee with an edged weapon before taking a cask of wine and fleeing.

Police have released images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is perceived to be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, about 25-years-old, 170cm tall with a thin build.

He was wearing a bucket hat, black jacket with a lamb’s wool inner hood, light denim jeans and black Nike slides.
