South West Rocks Community Dune Care volunteers head to the west this Sunday to tackle weeds at the Boyters Lane bird hide.
Weeds are running wild through the Boyters Lane bird hide and wetland with the group mustering up on Sunday 22 May for a working bee.
South West Rocks Community Dune Care, Ian Burnett, said it will be good to have a big team of volunteers to tackle the weeds.
“Given the wet summer, some weeds like coastal morning glory are now running amok,” said My Burnett.
“One of our volunteers found some Sicklethorn seedlings in the Bird Hide last week, so it will be another priority for our working bee.”
Those wishing to assist the group at the working bee are most welcome. Please wear enclosed shoes, long pants, sunscreen, insect repellent and a hat. Please bring water, some morning tea and (optional) lunch to eat together afterwards. Gloves, tools and training will be provided.
Volunteers are asked to meet at 8.45am on Sunday 22 May at the car park about 250m down Boyters Lane at Jerseyville. Parking is tight so it’s good to carpool if you can.
