Broome Sexual Assaults – Charges

Broome Detectives have charged a 28-year-old man in relation to two sexual assault incidents which occurred in the Broome area on Saturday 16 September 2023 and Sunday 17 September 2023.
About 9:30pm on Saturday 16 September 2023, a woman aged in her 20s was sexually assaulted at Gantheaume Point Beach in Minyirr, a suburb of Broome.
About 2:30am on Sunday 17 September 2023, a second woman, also aged in her 20s, was sexually assaulted in the vicinity of the Town Beach Carpark on Robinson Street, in Broome.
A 28-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning, Sunday 17 September 2023, and has since been charged in relation to both incidents. He was refused bail and is due to appear in Broome Magistrates Court today, Monday 18 September 2023.
In relation to the incident at Gantheaume Point Beach, he has been charged with:
– 1 x Deprivation of Liberty
– 2 x Aggravated Sexual Penetration without Consent
– 1 x Attempted Aggravated Sexual Penetration without Consent
– 3 x Impeded another person’s normal breathing or blood circulation by applying pressure to neck
– 1 x Unlawful and Indecent Assault
– 1 x Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm
In relation to the incident at the Town Beach Carpark, he has been charged with:
– 1 x Deprivation of Liberty
– 2 x Aggravated Sexual Penetration without Consent
– 3 x Impeded another person’s normal breathing or blood circulation by applying pressure to neck
– 1 x Threatened to Kill
– 1 x Aggravated Home Burglary and Commit
– 1 x Stealing
