Building Tasmania starts in two days, but workers still face the Liberal axe

Building Tasmania is due to be established in two days, but the Liberal Government still cannot explain what it is, how it will work, or which 250 Tasmanians will lose their jobs to pay for 13 years of Liberal waste.

This has never been a serious housing plan. It is a rebrand wrapped around a cuts agenda.

When the Premier announced Building Tasmania, Kerry Vincent had no detail.

When Labor asked him about it in Parliament, he still had no detail.

The Minister responsible for overseeing Building Tasmania could not answer basic questions about what advice, modelling or evidence underpinned the decision, what would happen to Homes Tasmania, or how cutting jobs from the very department responsible for delivery would somehow deliver more homes.

Now, with Building Tasmania about to begin, Tasmanians deserve answers.

  • Have workers been told what Building Tasmania actually is?
  • Have they been told where they will work, who they will report to, and what it means for their jobs?
  • Has the Government finalised which 250 Tasmanians will lose their jobs as part of Eric Abetz’s cuts?
  • And can Kerry Vincent finally explain how cutting 250 jobs from the department responsible for delivery will deliver more housing, roads, schools, and hospitals?

After 13 years of the Liberals, they are cutting jobs to pay for their waste.

Tasmanians need homes, but all they are getting from this Government is another thought-bubble, another rebrand, and another round of cuts.
