Bus Boost For South-Eastern Suburbs

  • Minister for Public Transport

Locals will have better connections with two major train lines and links with vital services in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs, with a new bus route set to begin thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

The new Route 627 connects Moorabbin Station to Chadstone Shopping Centre, opening up local access to major shopping and leisure destinations in Melbourne’s south east and creating six new jobs for drivers.

Linking Moorabbin Station on the Frankston line with the recently rebuilt station at Murrumbeena on the Cranbourne Pakenham line, the new north-south bus route also provides an alternative to changing lines at Caulfield.

The new Route 627 will also be a welcome boost to families and sporting clubs by providing a public transport connection to Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Services on Route 627 run seven days a week, from 6am to 10pm Monday to Friday, 7am to 9.30pm on Saturdays and 8am to 9pm on Sundays.

The Labor Government’s removal of the level crossing at Murrumbeena Road in 2018 has made the addition of this new route easier by reducing delays caused by the old boom gates.

The new service has also created six new jobs for bus drivers across Ventura Bus Lines’ Dandenong and Moorabbin depots.

Information and timetables for the new service are available on the PTV website at ptv.vic.gov.au or by calling PTV on 1800 800 007.
