Call for artists, performers and businesses to participate in ArtWalk

Port Macquarie-Hastings

Port Macquarie Hastings Council is proud to present ArtWalk 2023 – with Expressions of Interest now open for artists, performers and businesses to apply to be a part of the event.

With a new theme of ‘Up In Lights’ – ArtWalk will illuminate the CBD with gorgeous light and art installations, local musicians, roving entertainment and working artists on Friday the 9th of June, from 5.00pm to 9.00pm.

Trees and spaces around the CBD will be lit up – and performers will be encouraged to create pieces that embrace the theme.

This event is a community favourite and celebrates the incredible creatives, musicians and performers in the Hastings region – while showcasing the vibrant Port Macquarie Town Centre.

Last year, ArtWalk featured over 250 artists and performers and attracted nearly 20,000 people.

Port Macquarie Hastings Council Mayor Peta Pinson said she is proud that Council can again deliver this exciting and engaging event for the community.

“ArtWalk encourages people to come together to learn, explore and connect,” she said.

“By hosting this event, we are supporting so many vibrant hubs across the region – from commercial and tourism, to recreational and community groups.”

Local artist Leah Doeland is the creative behind the Murray Street Yarn Bomb community project – which will see trees decorated in bold, bright yarn patters.

“This colourful extravaganza is about connecting individuals and groups within our local community, working together and contributing towards this visually spectacular large-scale project,” she said.

“My desire is to see new friendships formed, new skills learned or taught, while injecting fun, laughter and colour into our beautiful Murray Street.”

“I also know the positive impact that both colour and a little bit of silliness have on our mental well-being… How wonderful it will be to have a street full of colour, joy and happiness!

Owner of Belle Property and sponsor of the event Sue Jogever said she is proud to support this event since it’s inception.

“My favourite event in Port Macquarie has always been Artwalk,” she said.

“It is wonderful to shine a light on the creatives in our region – and encourage our emerging local artists to participate in this wonderful community event.”

“This year we will be showcasing some wonderful local talent with Yvonne Kiely and Sarah Oates painting live on our Belle Property veranda! We are so looking forward to partnering with Artwalk again, to showcase this spectacular artistic experience and promote culture within our local community.”

Artists, performers and businesses wishing to submit an EOI can do so here.
