Call for information – Domestic violence – Palmerston

Northern Territory Police are calling for information in relation to a domestic violence assault in Palmerston on Tuesday.

Just before 10pm, a disturbance between 26-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, who are known to one another, was identified at a bus stop on Chung Wah Terrace, Palmerston.

The man allegedly assaulted the woman multiple times, before chasing the woman onto the road, the woman was struck by a passing vehicle.

Nearby witnesses conveyed the woman to Palmerston Regional Hospital. She has since been transferred to Royal Darwin Hospital suffering from multiple fractures.

The 26-year-old man left the scene and was subsequently arrested yesterday afternoon. He has since been charged with:

  • Aggravated assault x 3
  • Recklessly endanger serious harm
  • Breach domestic violence order

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Detectives from the Domestic and Family Violence Unit are calling for anyone with further information, particularly if you have dash-cam footage, to make contact on 131 444.
