With the popularity of the Riverina’s national parks at an all-time high, campers are reminded to book and plan ahead these Easter school holidays.
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Area Manager, Tim O’Kelly, said it is no secret that the Riverina hosts some spectacular campgrounds, and these sites often reach capacity at this time of year.
‘Visitors must pre-book all campsites online, no matter how remote or isolated the area,’ Mr O’Kelly said.
‘It’s such a busy time of year and we would hate for excited holiday makers to arrive without a booking and find there is no space.
‘The Deniliquin and Barooga campgrounds are nearly booked out for the Easter long weekend already.
‘The online booking system is straightforward and spending a few minutes making a reservation can save days of cancelled holidays.
‘Some of our Riverina sites permit campfires under certain conditions, in other parks campfires are prohibited.
‘While you are online booking your site, take note of the advice and if a campfire is allowed, always fully extinguish it when you leave.
‘It’s important to us that everyone who visits or comes to stay in our parks has the best experience they can.
‘We remind campers to take out all their rubbish and be kind towards their fellow campers.
