Cannabis and cash found; two charged, NSW

Two men will face court today charged with drug supply offences after cannabis and cash were seized by officers from Redfern Region Enforcement Squad last month.

About 8.20pm on Friday 27 December 2019, officers stopped a Hyundai Elantra on Church Street, Randwick, and spoke with the 36-year-old male driver and 42-year-old male passenger.

Police searched the vehicle and located 440g of cannabis in 55 individual vacuum sealed bags, more than $8200 cash and three mobile phones.

The items were seized and will undergo forensic testing.

The men were arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station where they were both charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug.

The older man was also charged with deal with property proceeds of crime.

Police will allege in court that the men were involved in the supply of cannabis through a “Dial-a-Dealer” service.

The men were granted strict conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court today (Wednesday 22 January 2020).
