The team from the University of Canterbury, led by Professor Misko Cubrinovski, will build on the learnings from the Canterbury earthquakes to fill knowledge gaps and hopes to further improve engineering practices, land-use planning and building design to boost resilience.
New research in Canterbury has secured $450,000 from Toka Tū Ake EQC to improve their understanding one of the most damaging natural effects of earthquakes – liquefaction.
The three teams from the University of Canterbury will focus on the assessment and mitigation of liquefaction hazards, resilience to earthquake and landslide multi-hazards and next-generation seismic hazard analysis for New Zealand.
