Car stolen by man armed with knife, NSW

Police are appealing for information from the public after a man had his car stolen at Mt Druitt overnight by a man armed with a knife.

Police have been told a man was in his car outside a Mt Druitt fitness centre on Mount Street about 11.40pm (Thursday 5 March 2020), when he noticed a second man standing beside the vehicle.

The man pulled open the driver’s door and threatened him with a knife demanding the car keys.

The driver got out of the car, leaving the keys behind, and the unknown man drove away.

Officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command were alerted and an investigation initiated.

Police are now searching for a 2005 black Honda Accord, registration AXG 41R. The 29-year-old driver was shaken but not injured during the incident.

Police have issued a description of a man they believe may be able to assist with this investigation.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged 20 to 22, 18cm tall with shoulder-length curly brown hair. At the time he was wearing a dark-coloured jacket and pants and was carrying an umbrella.

Anyone with information about the incident, or believe they know the described man, is urged to call Mt Druitt Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Police warn members of the public not to approach the man.
