CCTV images released after woman assaulted during attempted aggravated robbery in Kensington

Police have released CCTV images and are appealing for public assistance after a woman was assaulted during an attempted aggravated robbery in Kensington last week.

About 11.55pm on Tuesday 9 November 2021, a woman disembarked the light rail at the ES Marks tram stop on Anzac Parade and walked towards Boronia Street.

A male followed her to the entrance of her unit complex before he grabbed her from behind, pushed her to the ground and attempted to steal her handbag.

The woman – aged 39 – held onto her handbag and the male fled the scene in an unknown direction.

She sustained scratches and bruising above her left eye during the incident.

Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

As investigations continue, police are appealing for public assistance and have released CCTV images of a man who may be able to assist with ongoing inquiries.

The man depicted in the CCTV is described as being of thin build, about 170-180 cm tall, wearing a face covering, a black hooded-jumper, black pants and black and white sneakers.

Police were told the man spoke with a European accent.
