Armed Crime Squad detectives have released CCTV footage of a vehicle they are looking to identify following a shooting in Altona North on Sunday night.
Emergency services were called to the Marigold Avenue address shortly before 8pm on 16 August after a family member located the 48-year-old victim injured on the driveway outside his home.
He was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds and remains in a critical condition.
The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting are still to be determined, however police believe it occurred in the area where the victim was located.
A number of residents called triple zero (000) after hearing loud bangs they believed were gunshots.
No one else was injured as a result of the shooting and the incident continues to be treated as targeted.
The footage being released today shows a white Holden Commodore sedan with a rear spoiler driving past the victim’s address.
Investigators believe the vehicle drove past the home several times between 4.48pm and 5.45pm that day, and at times was parked in the vicinity for an extended period.
At this time, it is unknown what connection this vehicle may have with the shooting and police are keen to speak to anyone who can identity the vehicle and its owner or occupants.
Detectives are also urging anyone with dash-cam footage who was travelling through the Marigold Avenue area on Sunday afternoon and evening to contact police.
Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad are continuing to work with specialist investigators from Victoria Police’s State Anti-Gangs Division, including members of the Gang Crime Squad, Taskforce Lunar and Operation Eclipse, in an effort to determine what the motive was for the shooting.
Investigators are keen to speak to anyone who may have knowledge of those involved, including those present at the shooting or any people who may be responsible for directing the attack.
At this time there is nothing to indicate any further threat to those in the area and local police will continue to conduct reassurance patrols.
Anyone with information or dash-cam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
