The WA Mental Health Conference 2026 is taking place over the next two days with the theme Towards wellbeing: Taking control in the face of change.
The theme invites participants to explore opportunities across their lifespan to take back control, support themselves and others, recover from challenges and chart a course for the future.
The conference was opened by the Mental Health and Preventative Health Minister, and features a distinguished lineup of keynote speakers including Beyond Blue CEO Georgie Harman.
Earlier this year, the Cook Labor Government launched the Western Australian Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Strategy 2026-2031 .
The Strategy represents a genuine commitment to Western Australian communities, people with lived and living experience, their families, carers and significant others, and the mental health sector.
This commitment is supported by the Cook Labor Government’s record investment of $1.77 billion in mental health and alcohol and other drugs services and programs across WA.
The Conference is hosted by the Western Australian Association for Mental Health with support from the Cook Labor Government.

As stated by Mental Health and Preventative Health Minister Meredith Hammat:
“The WA Mental Health Conference presents us all with an opportunity to be inspired and energised with new ideas about how we can create better mental health practices, policies and systems for ourselves as well as our community.
“It is vital people with lived or living experience of mental health challenges take part in discussions that have the potential to change and shape the wellbeing of this State for the better.
“Through sharing experiences, conversations and opportunities the WA Mental Health Conference 2026 will bring about meaningful change for people and communities.”
