CCTV released as investigations continue into fatal stabbing at Toongabbie, NSW

Detectives have released CCTV vision in a public appeal for information, as investigations continue into a fatal stabbing at Toongabbie earlier this year.

Emergency services were called to Valeria Street, Toongabbie, about 6.30pm on Friday 7 January 2022, where a man was found suffering stab wounds to his body.

Officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command rendered first aid to the man before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived; however, he died at the scene.

The man was later identified as 45-year-old Shane Naylor.

A 56-year-old man, who was also injured during the incident, was taken to hospital under police guard. He was later released from hospital and has since spoken with investigators.

Detectives from Blacktown Police Area Command, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, are continuing to investigate the fatal stabbing under Strike Force Haskett.

As part of their ongoing inquiries, investigators have now released CCTV vision of two men who were in the area at the time of the incident and are appealing to the community for information.

Blacktown Police Area Command Crime Manager, Detective Chief Inspector Dave Goddard, said investigators believe there are people with information who have yet to come forward.

“The incident occurred in daylight hours a short distance from Toongabbie CBD,” Det Ch Insp Goddard said.

“During our initial inquiries, detectives conducted an extensive canvass of the area and reviewed CCTV and believe these people may help us with our inquiries.

“As investigations continue, we are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard something suspicious in the Toongabbie area – to please come forward and contact police,” Det Ch Insp Goddard said.

Investigations under Strike Force Haskett are continuing.
