Child drowns – Hawkesbury River at Brooklyn, NSW

A report will be prepared for the Coroner following the drowning death of a child at Brooklyn today.

About 12.45pm (Tuesday 9 July 2019), emergency services responded to reports of a child missing from a vessel on the Hawkesbury River at Brooklyn.

Officers from the Marine Area Command located the child in the water a short time later and commenced CPR.

The three-year-old girl was transported to land and treatment continued by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

She was airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition but was pronounced dead after arrival.

A crime scene was established and officers from Marine Area Command are investigating the matter.
