Chris Pitt adds to Australian medal tally in Al Ain

Overnight at the World Shooting Para Sport World Cup in Al Ain, Bundaberg’s Christ Pitt won the bronze medal in the P4 Mixed 50m Pistol (SH1) event.

Qualifying in 7th place with a score of 481, Chris progressed to the 8 person final, shooting a further 187 points to claim the bronze medal. Uzbekistan won the gold medal and France the silver medal.

With the 25 metre event being Chris’ performance strength, of his qualification in the 50 metre event he said “I would have preferred to be a bit closer to 500 and I was probably overtrying a bit. I had one very good string…and zero expectations so I am never disappointed with 50 metre.”

Winning the bronze medal Chris said “The bronze was very unexpected as I don’t have expectation [in the 50 metre] and in the air pistol final [Wednesday] I was very shaky and I was a bit concerned that may come back.. It didn’t which was a positive….I’m over the moon!” Focussing on the bronze medal and embracing the opportunity to compete in another final, Pitt said “Having an opportunity to shoot finals, where all of us wheelies are lacking that experience…it was in my head to just sit and process and experience a final. I think being in the two finals previously, this one I was the most settled.”

Chris finished in 6th place in the 25 metre pistol event and won silver in the 10 metre air event. The 50 meter event and subsequent bronze medal win, concludes Chris’ events in Al Ain.
