City calls for new members for Sustainability and Environment Advisory Committee

The City of Greater Bendigo is seeking expressions of interest from community members who would like to join its Sustainability and Environment Advisory Committee.

The committee is a high level, strategically focused group which provides an important advisory role to the City on issues concerning environmental sustainability and the natural environment.

Nine voluntary community positions are available and appointments are made for four years. The closing date for expressions of interest submissions is Friday April 26.

Cr Jennifer Alden, committee chair, said the outgoing members were involved in many important projects over the term.

“I’d like to publicly thank the outgoing committee for their contributions and commitment over the past four years,” Cr Alden said.

“The City is very grateful for their important advisory role on issues such as the development of the Greater Bendigo Environment Strategy 2016-2021.

“The new committee will continue to be a strategically focused group providing the best possible advice, guidance and strategic representation to the City, supporting the development of relevant strategies, policies and plans and assisting with community engagement and discussion.

“This is an opportunity for people who are passionate about a sustainable future for our community to contribute their skills, knowledge and ideas in a structured setting.

“I encourage any interested residents to consider submitting an expression of interest to become part of the committee.”

Please submit expressions of interest by Friday April 26, 2019.
