Coffs Coast teenagers interested in getting a taste of life inside the emergency services are encouraged to attend a free workshop being facilitated by Girls on Fire in partnership with City of Coffs Harbour.
Youth will have a chance to level up their skills and gain confidence from the sessions delivered by local experts from the NSW Rural Fire Service, Fire and Rescue NSW, the State Emergency Service and NSW Police and NSW Ambulance.
“Our region has experienced bushfire and flood in recent years. These workshops promise to be action-packed with hands-on exercises providing an insight into the role of a first responder,” City of Coffs Harbour Mayor Cr Paul Amos said.
“It will be an opportunity for young people to build teamwork and leadership skills, and potentially open a path to a future in the emergency services.”
Two workshops will be delivered locally, at Coffs Harbour (RFS Fire Control Centre) on 11 April and at Woolgoolga (the City’s Wiigulga complex) on 12 April.
The workshops are open to those aged from 14 to 19, with young women and teens from First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds particularly encouraged to nominate.
