The latest round of WA Health’s Clinical Simulation and Training Grants is now open with applications closing 28 August.

The grants program is run by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer in collaboration with the WA Clinical Simulation and Training Advisory Network and provides seed funding to organisations to develop clinical simulation and training in WA to improve healthcare outcomes.
Applications are open to health care providers (government and non-government), education providers, organisations involved in health profession training and non-profit entities.
Six grants were awarded in the inaugural round, providing funds for a diverse range of projects including developing virtual reality training for de-escalating violent and aggressive behaviour and using simulation training for advanced mental health emergency response.
Round 1 grant recipients are:
- Child and Adolescent Health Service – State-wide Paediatric Goals of Patient Care
- Curtin University – Preventing suicidal ideation
- Edith Cowan University – Aggression de-escalation training
- Child and Adolescent Health Service and King Edward Memorial Hospital – Advanced neonatal sim emergency course
- East Metropolitan Health Service and Royal Perth Bentley Group – Advanced mental health emergency response
- WA Country Health Service – PROMPT T3 emergency obstetric training.
Recipients are now moving ahead with their projects after the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the start of project work.
