Wine consumption is growing in India, and Queensland’s Clovely Estate has signed an import agreement with Tetrad Global Beverages to help meet the growing demand for quality and new varieties.

Over recent years, Indian wine sales have grown by around 14 percent per year as young Indians, predominantly in urban areas, embrace wine.

Clovely Estate’s winemaker Nick Pesudovs has just returned from a visit to Bengaluru (Bangalore), one of the biggest wine markets, to launch four specially selected Clovely wines for India.

“Indian consumers’ tastes are becoming more adventurous and we’ve introduced a Sparkling Brut, a Verdelho, a Nebbiolo and a Petit Verdot,” Mr Pesudovs said.

At launch events in the Bengaluru region, Indian wine directors and sommeliers responded very enthusiastically to the new wines and to hearing about the terroir of the South Burnett region, which is producing such outstanding Mediterranean varietals.

Nick Pesudovs also addressed the Masterclass at Enoteca Wine Academy in Bengaluru.
