Vivid Sydney’s Tumbalong Nights, which this year is sponsored by CommBank Indigenous Careers, will run for 23 nights from Friday 26 May to Saturday 17 June 2023.
Located at the centre of Sydney’s Darling Harbour in Tumbalong Park, the vibrant event promises an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages and backgrounds, encouraging them to immerse themselves in the beauty and depth of Indigenous art and culture.
First Nations artists performing include Yolngu supergroup Yothu Yindi, Wik and Soloman Island rapper Ziggy Ramo, veteran songwriter-activist Kutcha Edwards, Arrente and Gurindji crooner Dan Sultan, Arnhem Land seven-piece Andrew Gurruwiwi Band, legendary singer-songwriter Emma Donovan with band The Putbacks, and emerging Noongar artist Bumpy.
CommBank’s Group Executive Human Resources, Sian Lewis, said the bank was proud to help shine a spotlight on First Nations art and culture as part of Australia’s largest festival.

The first night of Tumbalong Nights will be attended by 70 First Nations students and children from across New South Wales who are invited to take part in a careers event during the day with National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy (NASCA) hosted at the CommBank Darling Harbour office.
As part of Tumbalong Nights, the CommBank Indigenous Careers team will host two activations at the event on Saturday 27 May and Saturday 10 June.
Tanika Davis, Indigenous Careers Community Engagement Manager, said the purpose of CommBank’s activations is to create an inclusive and open environment for the community learn more about meaningful career pathways at the bank.
“I’m excited to connect with the community at our Indigenous Careers events during Vivid Sydney to raise awareness of the positive career pathways at the bank. Our programs are building brighter futures for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and they’re being recognised for it.
“Our student-based traineeship program, which has been operational in branches for over 20 years, recently won the SEEK Star Awards Best Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiative. These programs have a powerful ripple effect in the individual and community for future generations to come,” Ms Davis said.
