The Federal Government has announced a third round of funding for community projects under the $500 million Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program.

The Hills Shire Council has previously accepted separate grants of $1,194,721 and $5,472,722 for projects under Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the program, and is proposing projects to the value of more than $2,389,400 for Phase 3.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi, said Council had carefully considered community needs and drawn up a list of 11 projects for consideration under the scheme.

“I’d like to thank the Federal Government for making funds available to fast-track much-needed community infrastructure,” Mayor Gangemi said.

“These projects, if approved, will create new opportunities for recreation and improve safety around schools,” he said.

“They include improvements to Crestwood dog-off leash area, a right turn facility and bus bay off Highs Road and an increased specification of an upcoming reserve in North Kellyville as well as other essential projects across our four Wards.”

“Parramatta Eels and Council are making a substantial investment into Kellyville Park as the home of Rugby League in The Hills, and this further investment will provide even greater facilities for the community.”

“I am particularly excited for the first electric vehicle charging station to be available to residents visiting the customer carpark at Council,” Mayor Gangemi said.

“Additionally, Council is always looking to promote the rural north of our Shire and a picnic shelter at Hawkins Lookout overlooking the Hawkesbury River will be greatly used by our residents and outside visitors”.
