Community support for storm impacted residents

Free access is available today at Logan West Aquatic Centre.
Logan West Aquatic Centre will be open for free today to help those impacted by the storms.

There is free entry to Logan West Aquatic Centre today so those impacted by this week’s storms can access facilities including showers.

Mayor Darren Power said the majority of residents in Logan’s western suburbs remained without power, and it was vital they were able to cool off in the heat.

“My heart goes out to all impacted by this week’s severe storms,” Cr Power said.

“We’ve opened Logan West Aquatic Centre for free to support those who’ve spent days without electricity in scorching conditions,” he said.

“We encourage residents who have not been impacted by the storms, to allow those in need to take priority. This is a small pool and staff will need to manage capacity.”

The centre at 29 Wineglass Dr, Hillcrest will be open until 8pm.

The free access does not include the fitness centre.

The community can access shower and electricity facilities at additional locations.
