Campaspe Shire Council is calling on the community to view a concept plan developed for Murray Esplanade in Echuca’s Port Precinct.
Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston said early last year the community and precinct businesses and operators were asked to share issues and ideas for the future of the precinct. This resulted in finalisation of the Port Precinct Plan, setting a vision ‘A place to take your time, relax and enjoy yourself’.
“The concept plan seeks to improve the functionality of Murray Esplanade, between Law Court Place and Leslie Street, to support events and activities,” Cr Weston said. “This could include static displays, markets or pop-up stalls.”
“It also seeks to improve the aesthetics of the space for local businesses and visitors, to introduce shade, increase public seating and create an environment that reflects the community vision.”
The concept plan is a high level plan, to support the next stage of the project – a detailed design plan.
“The detailed plan would show all the details, such as drainage, paths, as well as define materials and finishes. It also informs the cost of the project to support future funding bids and opportunities for staging, if required.”
A listening post will be held on Thursday, 7 November between 3 to 6pm in the pop-up park in Murray Esplanade providing the chance for the community to chat about the concept plan.
“The community and precinct businesses and operators are encouraged to use this opportunity to discuss the concept plan and how it supports the Port Precinct Plan,” the Mayor added.
