Conjola Park Foreshore Bushfire Recovery Grant

Council is pleased to announce that $615,000 in grant funding for Conjola Park foreshore bushfire recovery has been received under the NSW Government’s Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program. Council is contributing the additional $22,000 required to complete the works.

The Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program helps communities address priorities and activities for recovery and resilience after the 2019-20 bushfires.

Council is planning to replace the existing jetty, within Yooralla Bay at the western end of Lake Conjola, with a new 25-metre-long jetty and adjacent pontoons to the Valley Drive boat ramp.

Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Amanda Findley said, “we are committed to continue to rebuilding community facilities, lost or damaged in the bushfires, to a greater standard than they were before.”

“I understand how important these facilities are to the local community as well as to attract visitors to the area. The grant will also fund the much-anticipated new kayak jetty. Kayaking is one of many popular water activities people enjoy at this beautiful lake,” Mayor Findley said.

The grants support recovery for communities to enhance and strengthen their resilience and recovery.

Projects include:

  • social recovery and resilience needs
  • economic recovery and resilience needs
  • recovery and resilience needs of the built environment.

Following the formalisation of the funding agreement deed, Council will develop the detailed design for public comment. The project is scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2023.
